Rahul Gandhi Sparks Political Storm with Explosive ‘H Files’ Revelation

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Nov. 5 press conference unveiling what he called the “H Files” — a dossier alleging duplicate and fake voting in the 2024 Haryana assembly polls — drew sharp and immediate criticism from the BJP, which accused him of spreading baseless narratives and diverting attention from real issues. At the presser Gandhi alleged there were “25 lakh fake voters” in Haryana and showed examples of repeated voter photos and names allegedly used across multiple booths.

Union minister Kiren Rijiju questioned Gandhi’s motives, saying the Congress leader should focus on substantive issues rather than what he called “futile matters.” Rijiju accused Gandhi of colluding with anti-India forces and argued the youth will not be misled by such claims. BJP spokespersons also mocked Gandhi’s reference to a foreign woman’s photo being used as a voter — one minister and a party leader jibe-referenced an “Italian” woman — framing the incident as evidence of sloppy presentation rather than proof.

Gandhi’s central claim — that up to 12.5% of Haryana’s rolls could be fake given his 25 lakh figure against a 2 crore voter base — is provocative because it ties directly to narrow margins in several seats the BJP won. Gandhi urged Gen-Z and young voters to take the issue seriously, arguing that alleged fraudulent voting undermines democratic outcomes. The BJP countered point by point, dismissing the evidence as “fake” and urging Gandhi to address other pressing national matters.
