Dhami Launches Early Preparations for Haridwar Kumbh 2027

A delegation of prominent saints and religious leaders met Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to discuss cultural preservation, pilgrim amenities and operational plans for the Haridwar Kumbh Mela scheduled in 2027. The meeting, held during the state’s silver-jubilee observances, underscored the government’s push to coordinate with spiritual bodies and Akhadas on large-scale pilgrimage management.

Participants emphasised practical priorities such as transport planning, ghat maintenance and beautification, sanitation, security arrangements, accommodation capacity and basic infrastructure around pilgrimage centres. Leaders asked for clear, on-ground coordination between religious organisations, district administrations and state agencies so mass gatherings can be managed without compromising heritage sites.

Speakers also proposed cultural programmes to showcase traditional arts, rituals and local customs during the Kumbh, arguing that these events should promote both spiritual practice and local livelihoods. The delegation recommended better signage, information services and routine maintenance at high-footfall shrines to protect temples and heritage structures while improving visitor experience.
