PM Modi Rallies Support for NDA Ahead of Phase 1 Voting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used a rally in Aurangabad, Bihar, to issue a sharp warning to voters, saying the state “does not want a katta sarkar” and accusing the opposition of wanting to return guns and extortion if voted to power. Modi said his opponents were “teaching kids to become rangdaar” and claimed that if the INDIA bloc came to power, Bihar would see a return of double-barrel rifles, ransom and lawlessness. The remarks form part of a wider campaign push to paint the opposition as a threat to investment, jobs and public safety.

Modi framed his attack around governance and development, contrasting alleged “jungle raj” tactics with the NDA’s promise of stability. He pointed to the record turnout in Phase-1 — which he said reflected public faith in the Narendra–Nitish partnership — and urged voters, particularly women who boosted turnout, to keep up participation to prevent a return to misrule.

The PM’s rhetoric touched on wider political narratives: invoking past security operations and national milestones, he tied local voting choices to bigger themes of development, national pride and law and order. He cited prior achievements as proof of governance — from the Ram temple to national security actions — to bolster the NDA’s claim that strong leadership delivers results. Analysts say such messaging aims to consolidate the BJP base while appealing to undecided voters worried about crime and governance.
