NIA Arrests Red Fort Blast Drone Terror Tech Expert

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has achieved a significant breakthrough in the investigation of the Red Fort car bomb blast, arresting a crucial figure in the terror module who specialized in technical support. Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, a resident of Qazigund in Jammu and Kashmir, was detained from Srinagar and is described by the NIA as an “active co-conspirator” who worked closely with the suicide bomber, Umar un Nabi. This arrest has unmasked the chillingly sophisticated nature of the plot: a plan to introduce drone terror tactics into the heart of the national capital.

Wani, according to the anti-terror agency, played the role of the Red Fort blast drone terror tech expert, providing essential technical support to the module. His responsibilities included modifying drones and attempting to make small rockets in the run-up to the deadly November 10 attack. This revelation confirms investigators’ earlier suspicions that the module was attempting to scale up their destructive capabilities beyond the Vehicle-Borne IED (VBIED) used in the suicide attack.
