The DECAF trial challenges decades of advice! A top cardiovascular surgeon analyzes new data showing moderate coffee consumption may reduce atrial fibrillation recurrence risk by 39%. Find out if you should avoid caffeine.

Coffee Atrial Fibrillation Risk Reduction DECAF Study
For decades, the standard medical advice handed down to patients diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) was straightforward and simple: avoid caffeine. The stimulant was long labeled as a dangerous trigger, believed to irritate the heart’s rhythm and induce more episodes of the irregular heartbeat. However, that long-held belief has been decisively challenged by groundbreaking new research, a shift recently highlighted by a leading cardiovascular surgeon with over 25 years of experience.
The trial enrolled 200 patients who were regular coffee drinkers and had recently undergone cardioversion (a procedure to reset the heart’s rhythm). Participants were randomly assigned to one of two groups for six months: either to abstain from all caffeine or to continue drinking at least one cup of caffeinated coffee daily. The results were astounding and promise to rewrite current clinical guidelines for cardiac electrophysiology.
