SIA raids 3 locations in J&K in terror funding case

The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Kashmir conducted search operations at three locations — Jammu, Doda, and Handwara — as part of a probe into a complex terror financing network involving cross-border cryptocurrency transactions.

According to an official statement to Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the raids were aimed at collecting critical evidence tied to a larger conspiracy meant to destabilize peace in Jammu & Kashmir by channeling funds for terrorism and inciting anti-India sentiments, particularly among the youth.

The searches are linked to FIR No. 12/2022, registered under multiple sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sections 18, 38, 39, 120B, 121, and 121A.

The operation resulted in the seizure of key electronic devices and documents, which investigators believe will help identify the broader network of co-conspirators and accomplices involved in planning and financing terror activities.

The SIA emphasized its ongoing commitment to dismantling terrorism and its enablers, especially the increasing use of cryptocurrency to fund radicalization and militant operations across the region.
