Shark Tank’s Aman Gupta backs Piyush Goyal amid startup row

After his remarks on Indian startup strategy angered and alarmed companies and entrepreneurs nationwide, Aman Gupta, co-founder of boAT, has publicly defended Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. In 2016, Sameer Mehta and Aman Gupta co-founded boAT. The company has caused a stir in its industrial segment by selling audio equipment including speakers and headphones.

Aman Gupta, who claimed to have been present when the minister delivered his speech, claimed on X that Goyal is not against the founders and only wants India to achieve higher.

"The government doesn't ask entrepreneurs to have bigger dreams very often. However, it is precisely what took place at Startup Maha Kumbh. I was present. I listened to the entire speech. Founders are not opposed by Hon. Minister @PiyushGoyal Ji. He has confidence in us. His argument was straightforward: India has made great strides, but we must strive higher if we want to dominate the world.
