Around 20,000 students set world record by performing 108 Surya Namaskaras in Andhra Pradesh
As part of the 'Yoga - Maha Surya Vandanam' program at Araku Valley Degree College in the Alluri Sitharama Raju district, around 20,000 tribal students performed 108 Surya Namaskarams on World Health Day. For over two hours, 20,000 participants—including more than 13,000 girls—performed 108 Surya Namaskaras, setting a Guinness World Record.
District Collector Dinesh Kumar received the certificate from Alice Renaud, Manager of the London World Records Union, who formally recognized the event as part of the World Health Day celebrations.
"As a World Record Union Manager, I was present to see the performance tonight as 20,000 students gave sun salutations," Alice Renaud remarked. Tonight, has seen the setting of a new world record. I'd like to give them my congratulations. At the event's opening, Tribal Welfare Minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani motivated the audience by taking part in the Surya Namaskaras.
