Trump rules out striking Khamenei, demands Iran's full surrender
Amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, former US President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Tehran, revealing on social media that the US knows the whereabouts of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Trump stated that while the US is not planning to eliminate him "yet," American patience is wearing thin.
“We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there—for now,” Trump posted on Truth Social. He warned, “We don’t want missiles fired at civilians or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin.”
In a follow-up post, he wrote in all caps: “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!”
The message comes as the Israel-Iran conflict enters its fifth day. Over 200 people have reportedly died in Iran, including many civilians, and at least 24 Israeli civilians have also been killed in missile and drone exchanges. The fighting escalated Tuesday night as Iran launched a new barrage of missiles at Israel, according to Israeli officials.
Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump elaborated on the US stance: “We’re looking at better than a ceasefire… a real end. Not just a pause.”
TRUMP ON ALLEGED ISRAELI PLOT TO KILL KHAMENEI
Trump’s comments follow reports that he had previously vetoed an Israeli plan to assassinate Khamenei, fearing it would further inflame the situation. A former senior Trump official told Reuters: “Until Americans are killed, we’re not even considering targeting political leadership.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not confirm or deny such a plan. In an ABC interview, he defended Israel’s strikes, warning about Iran’s nuclear threat. “They chant, ‘Death to Israel, death to America’. Today it’s Tel Aviv, tomorrow it’s New York,” he said.
