J&K CM: Evacuated Students from Iran to Return Home in Deluxe Buses

A group of 94 students from Jammu and Kashmir, part of the 110 Indian nationals evacuated from conflict-hit Iran under Operation Sindhu, are set to return to the Union Territory in deluxe buses arranged by the government.

These students, who were initially taken from Urmia in Iran to Armenia and then flown to Doha, landed safely in New Delhi early Thursday morning. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirmed the development and assured swift transport arrangements for their return.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister’s Office announced that the Resident Commissioner had been directed to organize deluxe buses via the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation for the students’ journey back home.

“94 of our students evacuated from Iran have safely reached Delhi. The government is making transport arrangements to ensure their smooth journey home, which will be in place within the next few hours,” Omar Abdullah posted.

Grateful for the timely evacuation, students praised the Government of India’s efforts. One of the evacuees told reporters, “The situation in Iran is deteriorating, especially in Tehran. We’re thankful to the Indian authorities for moving us to safety. All students are being evacuated and well taken care of.”

The operation comes amid escalating conflict in the region, with India ramping up efforts to bring its citizens home from danger zones.
