Registrar to Professor: "You’ll Get a Shoe" – Yoga Day Row at LU
Lucknow – A Yoga Day coordination meeting at Lucknow University took an ugly turn when a heated exchange between a professor and the university registrar escalated into verbal abuse.
The confrontation reportedly began when a professor politely inquired whether lower-wear and T-shirts would be distributed to participants for the International Yoga Day event. The registrar, visibly agitated by the question, responded aggressively, saying, "Tujhe milega joota" (You'll get a shoe), shocking those present at the meeting.
The comment triggered outrage among faculty members, who condemned the registrar’s language as highly unprofessional and disrespectful. Several attendees said that such behavior was unbecoming of someone in an administrative post and demanded an official apology.
Sources within the university confirmed that tensions have been running high due to last-minute preparations and logistical confusion around the Yoga Day celebration, which is scheduled to be observed at the campus in line with nationwide events.
As of now, the university administration has not issued a formal statement regarding the incident, but calls for disciplinary action are growing among faculty groups and teaching unions.
The incident has once again raised questions about the work culture and mutual respect within academic institutions.
