Trump likens Iran strikes to Hiroshima bombings, sparks backlash

At the 2025 NATO Summit, US President Donald Trump stirred global controversy by comparing recent US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites to the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Trump claimed the strikes—targeting Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—ended the Israel-Iran conflict much like the 1945 bombings ended World War II.

However, intelligence reports suggest the bombings only temporarily set back Iran's nuclear capabilities. Critics slammed the analogy as reckless, with experts warning that the comment could escalate tensions. While Trump insisted Iran’s nuclear ambitions were “obliterated,” assessments show core infrastructure remains intact.
