Congress Questions PM’s J&K Visit: Pahalgam Attack Still Unpunished
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress party raised sharp concerns over the lack of progress in the investigation of the 2023 Pahalgam terror attack. The attack, which resulted in the deaths of several civilians and security personnel, has yet to see the perpetrators brought to justice. Congress leaders questioned the timing and purpose of the Prime Minister’s visit, stating that while developmental projects are being showcased, the victims of past terror incidents have not received justice.
In a strongly worded statement, Congress spokespersons pointed out that national attention must not waver from the failure to apprehend those responsible for the Pahalgam tragedy. They further alleged that the government has prioritized optics and political gains over accountability and security in the region.
The opposition party demanded that the Prime Minister acknowledge the unresolved status of the Pahalgam case and outline clear steps to ensure justice for the victims’ families. They also criticized the security lapses that allowed such an attack to take place despite heavy military presence in the area.
Meanwhile, PM Modi’s visit includes inaugurations of infrastructure projects worth thousands of crores and laying the foundation stones for new developmental initiatives. While these announcements were met with enthusiasm by local supporters, the Congress’s remarks added a layer of political tension to the otherwise celebratory tour.
