‘Not Coldplay’s Guy’: Andy Byron Clarifies He Makes Big Screen Videos
In a viral and humorous LinkedIn post, a man named Andy Byron clarified he's not the same Andy Byron—CEO of Astronomer—who was recently caught in a controversial moment at a Coldplay concert. To clear up the confusion, he even updated his LinkedIn bio in all caps to read: "NOT THE GUY FROM THE COLDPLAY GIG."
The real CEO of Astronomer, Andy Byron, was filmed on a “Kiss Cam” at a Coldplay concert in Boston, sharing an intimate moment with Kristin Cabot, the company's Head of HR. The clip, which showed the pair quickly separating and hiding their faces, quickly went viral online. Following the incident, a statement attributed to the CEO began circulating, in which he apologized to his wife, family, and team at Astronomer, acknowledging the event as “a deeply personal mistake played out on a very public stage.”
Meanwhile, the unrelated namesake Andy Byron took the opportunity to address the confusion in a lighthearted way. Sharing a news article about the incident, he wrote on LinkedIn:
“No, this isn't me. I wouldn't be caught dead at a Coldplay concert...”
He added, “I'm the Andy Byron who makes videos for big screens, not the one who gets caught on them.”
Seizing the moment for some clever marketing, he also included a business pitch:
“If you want to make video content that goes viral for the right reasons, let's connect,” with a link to his website.
The CEO’s Unverified Statement
In the alleged apology, the Astronomer CEO expressed regret over the viral footage, apologized publicly, and reflected on the toll the incident has taken personally and professionally. He also criticized the public nature of the incident, saying:
“What should have been a private moment became public without my consent.”
He closed the statement with a nod to Coldplay’s lyrics:
“Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you.”
Note: The authenticity of the CEO’s statement has not been independently verified.
