‘Thunderbolts’ OTT release: Florence Pugh film to stream soon—details here

Marvel fans can rejoice as Thunderbolts, the latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is set for its OTT release. Beginning July 1, the film will be available for digital purchase and rental on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home, according to USA Today.

Released in theatres on May 2, Thunderbolts (later rebranded in some promotions as The New Avengers) shifts away from traditional Marvel storytelling, embracing a darker tone with a focus on flawed anti-heroes. The plot revolves around a team of misfits led by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), tasked with a deadly mission that forces them to confront past traumas and choose between redemption or destruction.

The ensemble cast includes Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Wyatt Russell (John Walker), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), Lewis Pullman (Sentry), along with Olga Kurylenko, Wendell Pierce, and Chris Bauer. Directed by Jake Schreier and written by Eric Pearson, the film blends emotional depth with gritty action and moral ambiguity.

Despite mixed reviews and an underwhelming $381 million box office take on a $180 million budget, Thunderbolts was still the eighth-highest-grossing film of 2025. Its OTT debut offers fans another opportunity to explore its complex characters and dark narrative arc — and perhaps catch subtle hints of the MCU’s evolving direction.
