Govt Agrees to Debate on Operation Sindoor in Monsoon Session: Sources

With the Monsoon Session of Parliament set to begin on July 21 and conclude on August 21, the Centre has agreed to the Opposition’s demand for a debate on Operation Sindoor, according to sources cited by The Indian Express on Sunday.

However, the government has not yet decided whether to allow a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar.

A day earlier, the Opposition INDIA bloc held a virtual meeting with representatives from 24 political parties. During the meeting, they reached a consensus on eight key issues they intend to raise in the session. These include:

The Pahalgam terror attack

Operation Sindoor

The ceasefire announcement by former U.S. President Donald Trump

India’s current foreign policy

And the ongoing electoral rolls revision in Bihar by the Election Commission.
