Modi in Argentina: PM holds key delegation talks with Argentina President
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 5, 2025, began the third leg of his five-nation tour by holding wide-ranging talks with Argentina’s President Javier Milei in Buenos Aires. The discussions are aimed at deepening the India-Argentina strategic partnership, focusing on critical sectors such as defence, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, and trade and investment, as confirmed by India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
In addition to the official talks, PM Modi also paid homage to General Jose de San Martin, revered as the Father of the Argentine Nation, at the iconic Plaza de San Martin. The ceremonial tribute underlined India’s respect for Argentina’s history and its leaders.
This visit marks a significant milestone as it is the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Argentina in 57 years. Though Modi had visited Argentina earlier in 2018 for the G20 Summit, this is his first dedicated bilateral engagement at the Prime Ministerial level in the country.
After wrapping up his engagements in Argentina, the Prime Minister will proceed to Brazil, where he is scheduled to participate in the 17th BRICS Summit and also undertake an official state visit. The final stop on his diplomatic tour will be Namibia, where Modi will focus on strengthening ties with the African nation.
PM Modi’s multi-nation visit highlights India’s growing global engagement and strategic focus on enhancing partnerships across continents.
