‘Shaktiman’: Mukesh Khanna denies confirming Ranveer Singh lead
Mukesh Khanna, the original Shaktimaan, is locked in a dispute with the studio over casting for the long-awaited cinematic adaptation of the beloved ’90s superhero series. While the film rights were granted to the studio for seven years, Khanna insists the character’s core values must remain intact, a condition documented in their agreement.
Speaking to Galatta India, Khanna revealed, “The IPR is still mine. I made them write that Shaktimaan’s soul will not change, and his values will remain the same.” However, he regrets not securing a written clause giving him the final say in casting.
Rumors linking Ranveer Singh to the role have fueled fan debate, but Khanna remains cautious. “They say they’ll consult me, but the final call will be theirs,” he said, even hinting at legal action if the portrayal strays from the hero’s legacy.
For millions of Indians, Shaktimaan isn’t just a superhero — he’s a cultural icon. And for Khanna, protecting that image is a battle worth fighting.
