India Post Bank starts Aadhaar face ID service for transactions
India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has launched Aadhaar-based face authentication for customer transactions, aiming to boost financial inclusion and simplify access for elderly citizens and individuals with disabilities. Developed in collaboration with UIDAI, this feature replaces fingerprint or OTP-based verification with facial recognition, enabling secure, contactless banking.
The service aligns with the government’s Digital India and Financial Inclusion goals and is especially beneficial for those with worn fingerprints or limited smartphone access. IPPB Managing Director R Viswesvaran emphasized that this move ensures banking remains dignified and accessible for all.
Key Features:
* Facial authentication for seniors and differently abled individuals
* No dependence on OTPs or fingerprint sensors
* Secure, fast, and contactless transactions
* Usable during health emergencies
* Supports all services like fund transfer, bill payment, and account management
IPPB, established in 2018, operates through 1.65 lakh post offices with over 3 lakh employees, serving 11 crore+ customers across India.
