Hero Ends Mavrick 440 Production, Bids Farewell to Its Top Bike in India
Hero MotoCorp has decided to discontinue the Mavrick 440, its most premium motorcycle offering in the Indian market. Despite receiving generally positive reviews from riders, the motorcycle recorded almost no sales in recent months, which is likely the key reason for its quiet exit.
Although the Mavrick 440 has not yet been removed from Hero’s official website, several dealerships have reportedly stopped taking new bookings. Launched in early 2024, the bike was a naked street motorcycle based on the Harley-Davidson X440 platform, also produced by Hero MotoCorp in India. It was introduced with an ex-showroom price of 1.99 lakh rupees.
Powered by a 440cc single-cylinder engine, the Mavrick featured a six-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch. It delivered a maximum power of 27 bhp at 6000 rpm and peak torque of 36 Nm at 4000 rpm. Despite solid technical specifications, the bike could not gain traction in a competitive segment.
The discontinuation comes just 18 months after the Mavrick 440’s launch, marking a short production run. However, this move could open up more space in the market for the Harley-Davidson X440, which has seen comparatively steady sales figures in recent months.
