India Weighs Safran Engine Bid for Tejas, AMCA
India is evaluating Safran’s bid to supply engines for its next-generation fighter jet programs, including the Tejas Mk 2 and the ambitious Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project. The French aerospace giant has proposed advanced engine technology that could significantly boost the performance and capabilities of indigenous fighter jets.
The government is weighing factors such as technology transfer, cost efficiency, and long-term strategic partnerships before finalizing a deal. Safran’s proposal is being compared with other global engine makers to ensure India secures the best option for its defence modernization plans.
If approved, the partnership could mark a major step forward in India’s efforts to strengthen its self-reliance in defence manufacturing while enhancing the combat readiness of the Indian Air Force.
