''One government job per household": Tejashwi Yadav's major pledge for the Bihar election

Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the RJD, made a daring pre-election pledge on Thursday, saying that if his party wins back power, there will be at least one government employee in every Bihar home. During a press conference, Yadav announced that a new law would be passed to guarantee this job within 20 days of the government's formation.

Yadav went on to say that the plan would be fully executed throughout the state within 20 months of him taking office. When our government takes office, we'll make sure that there is a government employee in every home. Within 20 days of forming the government, we will create a new Act for it, and within 20 months, every house will have a government job," Yadav was cited as adding. The declaration was made in advance of the next assembly elections in Bihar.

Voters will cast ballots for the 243 Assembly seats in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with the vote count slated for November 14. Although there were 7.89 crore electors as on June 24 of this year, there are 7.42 crore electors in the final list. According to a press release from the Election Commission, 65 lakh voters were eliminated from the draft list, leaving 7.24 crore electors on the list as of August 1, 2025.
