Google incorporates the Gemini 2.0 model with its "AI mode" for overviews "to help with harder questions."
In the US, Google's AI Overviews search function now includes a new experimental feature dubbed "AI Mode." In a blog post on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, Google stated that it had also incorporated its Gemini 2.0 AI model with Overviews "to help with harder questions, starting with coding, advanced math, and multimodal queries, with more on the way."
The first people to test AI Mode in Labs will be Google One AI Premium customers. According to Google, the mode enables users to pose intricate, multi-part queries and request follow-ups to delve further. In addition to web content, users can access new, real-time sources such as the Knowledge Graph, real-world information, and shopping data for billions of products.
The function "uses a “query fan-out” technique, issuing multiple related searches concurrently across subtopics and multiple data sources and then brings those results together to provide an easy-to-understand response," according to Google.
