Parliamentary panel wants expert committee to study free education for SCs, STs in Delhi private schools
The formation of an expert committee to examine the effectiveness and execution of free education in Delhi's private schools under the Right to Education Act of 2009 has been highly recommended by a parliamentary committee on the welfare of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs).
The previous Delhi government "casually" submitted to the panel that private unaided recognized schools, which are located on government or private land but do not have a land obligation, are only required to provide free education to economically disadvantaged groups, children with special needs, and economically weaker sections until they have completed elementary school. This was taken seriously by the committee, which was led by BJP member Faggan Singh Kulaste.
The Delhi government then informed the panel that after completing elementary school, these kids might be accepted into government schools to finish their education.
