Donald Trump gives Boeing a billion-dollar deal for next-generation fighter jets: Report

On Friday, March 21, US President Donald Trump declared that Boeing had won a significant contract to construct the Air Force's advanced next-generation F-47 fighter jet as part of the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program.

 "After a rigorous and thorough competition between some of America's top aerospace companies, the Air Force is going to be awarding the contract for the Next Generation Air Dominance platform to Boeing," Trump said while highlighting the tough selection process from the Oval Office.

The new fighter plane will be called the F-47, Trump said as he announced the White House's contract award.

 The Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program of the US Air Force intends to replace Lockheed Martin's F-22 Raptor with a cutting-edge crewed aircraft that can work with drones.
