Live earthquake in Myanmar: At least 1,000 people were killed and extensive damage was caused by Friday's powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar and caused numerous aftershocks. The earthquake caused buildings to collapse, left large fractures in the roads, and transmitted tremors through neighboring nations, including sections of India, China, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The Myanmar earthquake claimed at least six lives in Thailand when a tower fell in Bangkok's Chatuchak market, but there were no reports of damage or injuries in India. Thailand reduced the number of fatalities from ten.
The head of Myanmar's ruling junta revealed on Saturday that hundreds more people were injured and that the dead toll had increased from 144 to 1,000. As rescue operations continue, it is anticipated that the dead toll will increase.
