Why missing Indian student Sudiksha Konanki's parents want her declared dead?

Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old Indian student who has gone missing, has been reported dead by her parents to the Dominican Republic's police. While on vacation in the Dominican Republic, Konanki vanished. On March 6, she was last saw in Punta Cana town at the Riu Republic Resort.

Authorities in the Dominican Republic are collaborating with US federal law enforcement organizations to investigate her disappearance. The Dominican Republic National Police spokesperson, Diego Pesqueira, stated that the family of the Indian student wrote to the police to get a death certificate.
