Following his victory in the Paris play-in, Vidit Gujrathi is now the fourth Indian on the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour.
Grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi has qualified for the second leg of the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour, which will take place in Paris in April, meaning that even more Indians will be participating next month.
By winning the Freestyle Chess Paris Play-in, Gujrathi secured his place in the French capital with world No. 5 Arjun Erigaisi, Tata Steel Chess champion R Praggnanandhaa, and current world champion D Gukesh.
The lone Indian competing in the first Grand Slam Tour tournament at Weissenhaus, Germany, was Gukesh, the current world champion who would compete in all five events.
The 18-year-old failed to win a single game and ultimately finished a dismal eighth out of ten players.
