IPL 2025: Injury-hit LSG vows to play attacking cricket
Lucknow: This is probably the first time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history that multiple teams are struggling with their pace units due to injuries. By the time the 18th edition of the league begins in Kolkata on Saturday, it is unlikely that Jasprit Bumrah of MI, teammates Lizaad Williams and Allah Ghazanfar, KKR's Umran Malik, and LSG's pace trio of Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan, and Mohsin Khan will be fit to play. Bumrah's injury sustained in the final Border-Gavaskar Test in Sydney prevented him from playing in India's successful Champions Trophy campaign.
Although an official announcement is still pending, the Lucknow Super Giants have signed all-rounders Shivam Mavi and Shardul Thakur as probable replacements for the time being. Former India bowler and LSG coach Zaheer Khan believes that teams should be upbeat and figure out how to handle the circumstance.
Because of their injuries, some of our athletes are in a volatile scenario. However, it's time to find the good and take steps to resolve the issue peacefully. While some players are with their physiotherapists, others are at the National Cricket Academy. It will not be appropriate to discuss this at this time. This season, things will be lively," he stated on Wednesday.
