Bengal Shocked as Child Kidnap-Rape Case Comes to Light

A wave of shock and anger has swept across West Bengal following the horrific kidnap and sexual assault of a four-year-old girl near the Tarakeswar railway station premises in the Hooghly district. The incident, which occurred late Friday night, has brought to light a series of chilling details that underscore the brutality of the crime and the systemic failure in protecting the most vulnerable. The young victim was reportedly sleeping next to her grandmother on a cot under a mosquito net in a railway shed where her family had sought shelter.

According to the family’s complaint, the assailant allegedly cut or tore through the mosquito net, seizing the child while she slept. Panic erupted when the family discovered the minor missing at dawn. Hours later, the child was found near a drain close to the station, in a severely wounded and bloodied state. Subsequent medical reports and family accounts revealed the horrifying extent of the violence: the victim was found unclothed, bleeding profusely from her private parts, and bearing visible bite marks on her cheek. This specific, graphic detail has fueled intense public outrage and amplified the political fallout over the state of law and order in West Bengal.
