Fear grips Bangladesh’s 500,000 Christians after a series of crude bomb attacks on a cathedral and school. Police confirm a terror angle in the targeted incidents, citing political instability.

Bomb attacks on a cathedral and school
A series of calculated and targeted bomb attacks on Christian sites across Bangladesh has sent a wave of fear through the nation’s small but significant Christian minority, estimated at approximately 500,000 people. Police have officially confirmed that the incidents are being investigated from a terror angle, suggesting the intent was not primarily to inflict mass casualties but to sow widespread terror and insecurity among the community.
The Christian community, despite the palpable sense of dread, has shown resilience. For instance, following the attack on St. Mary’s Cathedral, approximately 500 people gathered for worship the very next day. However, community leaders are vocal in their demand for swift justice. Nirmal Rozario, president of the Bangladesh Christian Association, has called for comprehensive security measures.
