US has 40% likelihood of suffering a recession: JP Morgan top economist
By : Sandhya
According to JP Morgan & Chase senior economist Bruce Kasman, there is a 40% risk that the US will experience a recession. When Kasman voiced concerns about the state of the US economy, he was addressing reporters in Singapore.
Kasman's most recent forecasts are more optimistic than his first estimates from the beginning of the year, when he estimated that there was a 30% possibility of a US recession.
According to him, the likelihood of a US recession might increase considerably further, possibly surpassing 50%. According to Kasman, this would occur if US President Donald Trump's proposed reciprocal tariffs were implemented in April. He claimed that the probability of a recession could be increased by Trump's disruptive, business-unfriendly policies. According to JP Morgan, the US GDP is expected to expand by 2% in 2025.
