A fact-finding committee has been directed by the university's vice chancellor, Harilal B. Menon, to submit its report on the occurrence within 48 hours, while Goa University suspended an assistant professor of physics on Monday for allegedly giving a female student access to an exam question paper.

The Vice Chancellor said in an order on Monday that the professor had been suspended with effect from March 17 and would remain suspended until further orders pending inquiry proceedings. The suspension was based on accusations that the professor had "disclosure exam question paper to a female student."

Menon told the reporters that the university has not yet received a complaint alleging that any question papers had been leaked. The question paper was not reported to have been leaked. All that was mentioned was that the previous evening, someone had broken into my (the informant's) cabin. Additionally, the accused assistant professor has been asked by the dean. "I went there to take a chemical, took some chemical, and did some analysis for my student," was his response. The Vice Chancellor stated, "That's all he said."
