Elon Musk’s DOGE faces legal challenge from labor unions over Social Security data access
By : Vidya
To prevent Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency from accessing the private Social Security information of millions of Americans, a consortium of labor unions is requesting an urgent injunction from a federal judge.
The legal services organization Democracy Forward filed the emergency relief request against the Social Security Administration and its acting commissioner, Leland Dudek, in federal court in Maryland late Friday. The unions are requesting that the court prevent DOGE from accessing the enormous amounts of personal information that the agency possesses.
An affidavit from Tiffany Flick, a former senior staffer at the agency, is included in the file. According to Flick, career civil officials are attempting to hide the data from DOGE.
