Israel says killed Hezbollah militant in Lebanon strike

Israel's military claimed Friday that it had killed a Hezbollah weapons smuggler in an attack in eastern Lebanon the day before. This was the most recent strike since the Israel-Hezbollah war was put on hold in November due to a ceasefire. An attack on a car in Hermel, the region the Israeli military claimed it had targeted, resulted in one fatality and one injury, according to Lebanon's health ministry on Thursday.
The Israeli air force "conducted an intelligence-based strike in the area of Hermel and eliminated the terrorist Mohammed Mahdi Ali Shaheen... who had been coordinating terrorist transactions for the purchase of weapons," according to a military statement.
"Recently been involved in transporting weapons from Syria to Lebanon" was another statement made about the jihadist who was killed. He "posed a threat to the State of Israel and constituted a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon" that brought the war with Hezbollah to an end, the military statement said.
