A replacement crew arrived with the International Space Station on Sunday, bringing two astronauts who had been stuck there for more than nine months one step closer to their homecoming.
Shortly after their SpaceX Crew Dragon arrived at 0545 GMT, the astronauts were seen hugging and embracing their fellow astronauts in zero gravity on the space station on live television.
The Boeing Starliner spaceship that Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams were testing on its first crewed flight experienced propulsion problems and was judged unsuitable to return them to Earth, leaving them stranded on the ISS since June.
It was a "wonderful day" and "great to see our friends arrive," according to William, who spoke after her colleges stepped out into the orbitati
on lab.
