Volodymyr Zelensky, the leader of Ukraine, believes US assistance is "crucial" one day following ending a trip to Washington, DC, after a heated public dispute with Donald Trump.
Trump and Vice President JD Vance scolded the Ukrainian leader in front of reporters in the Oval Office at a meeting that was supposed to be about a natural resources agreement that fell apart. When Zelensky attempted to reply at one point, a furious Trump accused him of "gambling with World War III."
Zelensky swiftly won support from a Europe already unsettled by Trump's approaches to Russian President Vladimir Putin. In a statement, European Union top diplomat Kaja Kallas said it's "clear that the free world needs a new leader."
