According to the budget presented in the assembly on Monday, the Bihar government has declared intentions to build 15 airports, a considerable increase from the current three, to improve air connectivity in the state. The projected cost of these projects is ₹11,500 lakh.
Three airports will be built at Rajgir in the Nalanda district, Sultanganj (Bhagalpur), and Raxaul (Forbesganj), according to Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, who is in charge of the finance portfolio. Seven smaller airports will be built at Bhagalpur, Valmikinagar (West Champaran), Birpur (Supaul), Madhubani, Munger, Saharsa, and Muzaffarpur, he stated in the House in Patna.
These would be implemented as part of the central government's UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) program, sometimes referred to as the regional connectivity program, which seeks to make flying more accessible to the general public and expand the number of airstrips that are open for regularly scheduled civilian flights.
