The destruction of an illegal structure at Mumbai's Habitat Studio, where stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra made contentious remarks about Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde, was reportedly begun by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) personnel on Tuesday. The action was taken because of rule infractions, according to the BMC.

The BMC acted quickly and demolished an illegal section of the club on Monday afternoon, less than twenty-four hours after Kunal Kamra's video, allegedly taken at the venue, of him making a jab at Eknath Shinde was circulated on social media, causing Shiv Sainiks to loot the studio and creating a commotion among the ruling Mahayuti players.

Following state transport minister Pratap Sarnaik's request to BMC commissioner Bhushan Gagrani to demolish the studio, citing illegality, the civic body took action. Gagrani informed Vinayak Vispute, the assistant commissioner of H Ward, to "check possible illegalities in the structure," he claimed in an interview with Hindustan Times on Monday.
