Case of Ranya Rao gold smuggling: BJP MLA faces FIR for offensive comments

According to a PTI report, BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal was charged with making disparaging statements against Kannada actress Ranya Rao, who was recently taken into custody in connection with a gold smuggling case.

The charge against Yatnal was filed at the High Grounds police station in Bengaluru on Tuesday under Section 79 (Word, gesture, or act designed to offend the modesty of a woman) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, they added, following a complaint from Akula Anuradha.
