On Sunday, British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran’s live street performance in Bengaluru was abruptly stopped by the local police. Several videos of the police pulling the plug on his jamming session at Church Street went viral on social media.

Now, hours after the incident, Ed Sheeran has himself shared a clarification on social media, revealing that he had permission to busk, and that he didn’t just randomly turn up at the spot.

Ahead of Ed Sheeran’s concert at NICE Grounds, Bengaluru, the singer took to his Instagram story, and clarified, “We had permission to busk btw, hence us playing in that exact spot, was planned out before, it wasn’t just us randomly turning up. All good though. See ya at the show tonight x".
