Elephant grabs man with trunk, tosses him into air at Kerala temple festival.

On January 8, 2025, during the Puthiyangadi annual 'Nercha' festival at a mosque in Tirur, Malappuram district, an elephant became agitated, resulting in injuries to at least 17 individuals, one critically. Many people were injured when an elephant turned violent during Puthiyangadi annual 'nercha' at BP Angadi, Tirur in Kerala.

The elephant, identified as Pakuth Sreekuttan, charged at the assembled devotees, causing panic and a stampede-like situation. The incident was captured on video, showing the elephant picking up and hurling a man. The elephant was eventually brought under control by its mahout.
