After 13 months, police in Gujarat's Junagadh district were able to retrieve a woman's skeleton remains because the case's key suspect was able to trick the police from the very beginning of the murder. On January 2, 2024, Daya Savaliya, 35, of Rupavati village in the district, was reported missing by her husband, Vallabh, who stated that his wife had left their home with gold jewelry and more than ₹9 lakh in cash and had not returned. The pair had an 11-year-old kid.
Initial police investigations uncovered the woman's extra-marital romance with the leading suspect, Hardik Sukhadia, a resident of the same hamlet. The man informed the police that Daya had eloped with another man she was allegedly in a relationship with. He also gave up using his cell phone in order to avoid being tracked.
According to a police official, Hardik was supposed to take the Layer Voice Analysis (LVA) test at the Gandhinagar Forensic Science Laboratory, but he was able to avoid it. We believe he foresaw this kind of inquiry. The investigation was difficult for the police since there was a dearth of hard evidence and eyewitnesses, the paper stated, quoting the official.
