Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a letter to Muhammad Yunus, chief advisor to Bangladesh's interim government, conveying wishes on Bangladesh's Independence Day and reaffirming India's dedication to strengthening the relationship between the two nations.

Modi highlighted the shared history and sacrifices that underpin their partnership, referencing the Liberation War of Bangladesh as a guiding principle.

The letter expresses a commitment to advancing peace, stability, and prosperity while addressing mutual interests and concerns.

This comes amid reported tensions between India and Bangladesh following a change in government that saw Sheikh Hasina, a long-standing ally of India, replaced by an interim government led by Muhammad Yunus.

India has expressed concerns regarding reports of attacks on minorities, with the External Affairs Minister stating that the Centre is engaging with the interim government on these issues.
