Indian-origin man, daughter shot dead in US store; police arrest suspect

The shooting death of an Indian-origin man and his daughter inside a US convenience store on Thursday shocked Virginia's Indian community. When the incident occurred, 56-year-old Pradipkumar Patel and his daughter were employed at a relative's store on Lankford Highway in Accomack County, Virginia.

After 5:30 am on March 20, a call regarding the gunshot was placed to the county sheriff's office. Upon their arrival, they found Patel unconscious and suffering from gunshot wounds. While searching the building, they also discovered his daughter, who had also been shot, on the scene.

Although the daughter had not yet been recognized, Patel was declared dead at the spot and taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Later, she passed away from her wounds. In addition, the police said Thursday that they had taken a guy into custody in relation to the incident. According to county sheriff W Todd Wessells, George Frazier Devon White, 44, of Onancock, was detained without posting bail.
