According to a statement, a junior works manager at the Kanpur Ordnance Factory was detained by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Wednesday for allegedly exchanging sensitive and secret information with a suspected Pakistani intelligence agent.
PTI said that junior manager Kumar Vikas exposed the information on social media. Following an extensive investigation into the leak, he was placed under arrest on Wednesday. Vikas was in communication with a suspected Pakistani spy who contacted him under the alias "Neha Sharma," according to the inquiry.
"Vikas had been sending confidential documents and sensitive data related to ordnance manufacturing, employee attendance sheets, machine layouts, and production charts via WhatsApp," ATS stated. According to the authorities, the Pakistani agent first reached out to Vikas on Facebook and identified herself as a worker for Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). Afterwards, they traded telephone numbers and kept in touch via WhatsApp.
