
Manipur: 4 UNLF (Pambei) militants injured in clash with Arambai Tenggol members

Imphal In the Imphal East region of Manipur, police said on Sunday that at least four militants from the outlawed United National Liberation Front group were hurt in a confrontation with Arambai Tenggol, a Meitei extremist group. The four injured UNLF militants were taken into police custody and treated at a hospital and their condition is reported to be out of danger, a police officer said.
According to him, the incident happened on Saturday afternoon when 15 to 20 members of Arambai Tenggol stormed into the home of Irengbam Nandakumar Singh, a UNLF militant in Kongpal Chingangbam Leikai, and fought insurgents from the Imphal Valley-based group. According to the officer, four UNLF militants inside the residence suffered blunt injuries from sticks.
Security personnel hurried to the scene after a few bullets were fired by both sides as well, he claimed. According to the officer, the attackers were able to flee the scene, but the four UNLF members were arrested.
