In an interview with podcaster and AI researcher Lex Fridman, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised US President Donald Trump's "unwavering" commitment to the United States. PM Modi praised the American leader's tenacity and will, referring to the assassination attempts on him last year.
The prime minister was responding to Fridman's question about how he would describe Trump as a friend and as a leader. PM Modi used the 2019 'Howdy Modi' event in Houston, where the arena was crowded with a sea of people, to highlight Trump's commitment to the US. He called Trump's offer to sit in the audience during his speech a "remarkable one" given that it came from the US president.
"He made his own choices, but he also trusted me and my lead enough to follow me into the mob at that very moment. PM Modi praised the US president, saying, "I really saw that day that we had a strong bond and a sense of mutual trust."
