Naveen Patnaik calls delimitation of constituencies injustice to Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal president Naveen Patnaik stated on Saturday that the number of seats in our nation's highest representative body should not be decided solely by population. He referred to the constituency delineation as an injustice to Odisha.
Over the years, Odisha has done a good job of lowering its fertility rates. We will lose members in the state assembly and the Lok Sabha if the estimated population for 2026 is used. Given that they have done a great job on a national goal, states like Odisha should not be disincentived for lowering their population growth rates after years of tenacious efforts. He declared, "The BJD will stop at nothing to safeguard the interests of the people of Odisha."
He sent former congressman Amar Patnaik and former minister Sanjay Dasburma to attend the meeting in Chennai while joining virtually, despite Patnaik's invitation from the DMK.
