Declaring that "vulgarity doesn't have any religion," the Delhi High Court on Wednesday rejected a plea asking musician and rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh to change the lyrics of his new song "Maniac." The petitioner claimed that the song sexualized women through the use of Bhojpuri lyrics.

The comments were delivered by the high court bench of chief judge DK Upadhyay and justice Tushar Rao Gedela during the hearing of a plea submitted by Luv Kush Kumar. His attorney had claimed that the song sexualized women and normalized profanity by utilizing the Bhojpuri language.

Kumar argued that by portraying women as "objects of sexual desire," the song exploited double entendre and encouraged explicit sexualization. It continued by saying that the song had drawn a lot of attention due to its explicit and coarse content and that its crude language, objectification of women, and offensive references all contributed to a sexist and disrespectful culture.
